A friend of mine asked me today what my favorite childhood Easter memory was. I immediately recalled the one when I was about 6 or 7 years old. What I always remember about Easter is that I always got to wear pretty dresses and felt really girly. This special day stands out for me the most because of how special I felt. We were all at Wickham Park on a big Easter egg hunt with lots and lots of other children. It was fun finding all of those eggs because inside each were various prizes. Money, candy, you name it. The biggest prize of all went to the person who found the one and only Golden Egg. One lucky child would receive a GINORMOUS Easter basket full of goodies AND a stuffed bunny at least twice their size. Not to mention the bragging rights and basking in the glow of being that one SPECIAL individual. And who doesn’t want to feel special?…I mean we ALL are, only some of us forget and then others will come along to remind us.
This one memorable Easter, it was a perfect stranger that helped create a fond memory that chose this morning to resurface. There were so many eggs and so many kids. Sure I wanted to find that Golden Egg, and that day I actually did. I remember this nice man whispered to me, “Look at that tree straight ahead of you.” From there he verbally navigated me toward my day of glory. This little girl was the Queen of the Easter Parade all thanks to the kindness of a gentleman who was her angel in the forest.
What is amazing to me in recalling this story, is what stands out for me the most was not the notoriety of finding the Golden Egg or the prizes that followed, rather the golden halo and random act of kindness of a stranger who chose me to find that treasure. And will he ever know how special that made me FEEL?….
I relate this story to that of my Journey Forward…My dream, the Golden Egg, and my path laden with Angels in various disguises, all part of a grander plan, divinely orchestrated on my behalf. This one special girl with a big heart and a big dream and the grace to see it through…
